Being a guest at the Design Dawg “table”….
Thursday, September 24th, 2009“Eight years ago Youngsong Martin began Wildflower Linen. At that time, a shift was occuring in how we perceived and experienced event design. Young’s linens, infused looks hot from the runway thanks to her fashion design background, were right with keeping with what was happening. During those eight years which fell in the wake of 9/11 and then the collapse of the economy, event design has become more restrained, less focused on props and themes, more on color, texture, and layers in much the same way as fashion and interior design are. Because of this, we rely so much more on linens (and chair covers) to lay the foundation – or table setting – on which we can build our designs.”

I began Wildflower Linen in 2001 after a career in fashion design. In that world, one goes to a lot of events and it seemed that although textiles are very important to that industry, that so much more could be done with the most important (and abundant) elements in the room -- tables and chairs. So, I literally brought all my ideas to the proverbial table and haven't looked back.
